Meet Hector, the furry inspiration and guiding light behind NutriFlex – your pet's passport to premium holistic health care. Hector, our remarkable mini schnauzer, enjoyed nearly 18 orbits around the sun and left an indelible mark on our journey.
My story begins with a move to South Africa in 2004, accompanied by my beloved Giant Schnauzer, Riley, and a school of 36 Koi Carp. My passion for animals and wildlife photography fueled this life-changing adventure. I vividly recall the flight to Cape Town, where the reassuring sounds of Riley's barking from the cargo hold filled my heart with joy.
Tragically, only two weeks into our new life, and despite the best efforts of hospitalisation Riley's life was cut short due to a severe reaction and seizures in response to mandatory vaccinations. Riley was just two years old, and his loss left our dream shattered.
As I grieved for Riley and tended to my recovering Koi Carp, fate introduced me to Hector from Roodewall Kennels. Hector, despite his early dismissal from puppy school for apparently being "untrainable," quickly won the hearts of everyone with his larger-than-life personality.
I made a promise to Hector – to provide him with the best of everything and to hope for a lifetime together.
Recognising the pivotal role that nutrition plays in longevity, I embarked on a journey to ensure Hector's well-being. Despite a rocky start, Hector continued to lead an active and joyful life, relishing runs on his favourite beach and dipping his face into the waves.
Shortly before his twelfth birthday, Hector began relentlessly chewing on his feet. Further investigations revealed advanced age-related joint issues, with several vertebrae already fused. Despite our vet's best efforts, Hector's condition worsened, leading to a dire situation where he could barely lift his head. It was then suggested that, as an "older" dog, it might be time to say our goodbyes and let him cross the rainbow bridge.
However, I refused to accept this fate without seeking a second opinion. Hector was hospitalised, receiving a vital drip and undergoing an emergency procedure to clear bladder stones that had formed a dangerous blockage. Miraculously, within just 24 hours, Hector made an incredible recovery, and it was clear that he had more life left to live.
As a small local company, we have already witnessed incredible transformations in people suffering from chronic joint issues using pure collagen powder for humans. This sparked our light bulb moment, and the idea for NutriFlex was born.
